Rick brings a significant professional background in electrical and software engineering in combination with a distinguished legal career to assist clients in the development of their intellectual property (IP) portfolios and the advancement of their technologies, branding, and creativity. Rick’s practice emphasizes IP portfolio management (patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets), patent preparation and prosecution, patent analysis (noninfringement/infringement, invalidity/validity, clearance, patentability), and intellectual property due diligence. Rick’s technical areas include software, electronics, data storage systems and devices, telecommunications, nuclear engineering, mechanical systems, propulsion systems, and materials. He is a past President of the Colorado IP American Inn of Court, and he is a council member to the International Business Law Consortium (IBLC). Rick teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law and will be teaching Trademark Law in the Fall semester of 2022.
