Mara is a hands-on, get-involved, get-dirty patent attorney, having worked in industry in the chemical and coating fields prior to becoming an attorney. She enjoys touring production facilities and laboratories with inventors, always amazed by new technologies. Her practice focuses on general IP procurement, portfolio evaluation and management, and client counseling for the building and protection of the client’s business by providing individualized client service. Mara’s broad experience includes patent application drafting, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patentability evaluations, patent infringement and design around opinions, validity opinions, and due diligence investigations.
Mara’s practice encompasses both mechanical devices and chemical technology. Specific areas of experience include polymer science including extrusion, casting, molding and other processing of polymers, and extruders and dies; semi-conductor, solid state and MEMS technology; nanotechnology; distillation and alcohol processing; food science; fluid filtration for removal of particulate and chemical contaminants; medical devices and medical sensors; ceramic structures and metal matrixes; and abrasive and grinding products and methods.
Mara is located in HPD’s Minnesota office on the east side of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, close to Hudson and River Falls, Wisconsin.
