Richard Holzer

Rick helps his clients develop intellectual property (IP) portfolios. He uses his significant experience in electrical and software engineering to advance his clients’ technologies, branding, and creativity.

Rick’s practice emphasizes IP portfolio management (patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets), patent preparation and prosecution, patent analysis (noninfringement/infringement, invalidity/validity, clearance, patentability), and intellectual property due diligence. His technical areas include software, electronics, antennas, data storage systems and devices, telecommunications, nuclear engineering, mechanical systems, propulsion systems, and materials.

He is a past president of the Colorado IP American Inn of Court, and he is a past council member and current chair of the International Business Law Consortium (IBLC). Rick teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, teaching Patent Law, Patent Drafting and Prosecution, and Trademark Law. He is teaching Patent Prosecution in the spring semester of 2024.
