Scott Brairton

From individual inventors and start-up companies to mid-sized and major corporations, Scott helps his clients develop and secure their intellectual property rights through assistance with patent preparation and prosecution, opinion work (including freedom to operate, patentability, invalidity, and infringement analysis), and general intellectual property portfolio counseling and management. As a former patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Scott uses his knowledge of the inner workings of the USPTO to efficiently and effectively obtain positive results. Over his 15+ years in the field of intellectual property law, Scott has developed a collaborative and adaptable style focused on meeting each of his client’s unique business objectives.

Scott’s technical experience spans a wide range of technologies, with areas of focus including the oil and gas, medical device, clean tech and renewable energy, and the food and beverage industries. With an educational background in chemical engineering, Scott is well suited for working with clients developing innovative technologies in these and related technology sectors.

Outside of work, Scott is an avid soccer fan and devoted follower of the Colorado Rapids and the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Soccer Teams. Scott also loves live music and attending concerts at any of Colorado’s many excellent live music venues. He plays four instruments (guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and banjo), each with an equal degree of mediocrity.
